For those that say they refuse to buy, there are WAY more people that are actually influenced into clickthrough compared to the grumpy entitled people that can't wait 30 secs for their content. Banners absolutely do not sell the product the same way. The entire point of an ad is to entrigue a person to look further into it. There is a reason video ads are the gold standard and cost the most money, because it reaps the highest rewards on this type of platform. Once you watch the preroll, you won't get another for 15 minutes.įor those that say alternative marketing is better, you're emprically wrong. Attempting to gain revenue from their audience is not some corrupt system, people are being spoiled and entitled to think waiting for 30 secs to watch a streamer after you switch is unreasonable. Twitch has had incredible growth over the last few years, with as much as people bash them, it's a pretty decent platform. Twitch is not currently meeting their ad revenue goals either, which would make them profitable. Twitch is NOT currently profitable, and stop with the BS about "if they didn't advertise MORE people would donate" MAYBE more people would donate, but it would not offset $200 million they currently make in ad revenue.
It's not how advertising and marketing is done. "I won't buy a product if I get an ad" is not the standard. In general, the people complaining about ads literally have zero idea the impact that ads make. yes, ads are a pain in the ass, but acting like a company is shouldn't be trying to earn increase revenue is such a bad take. "I dont want to support twitch by watching ads and just consume for free" doesn't exactly make them care that much about you as a viewer.Įdit: Im still getting comments on this 20 days later. But saying a company is garbage because they are attempting to make money off their product is silly. They have since added the ability to still see the streamers screen which is better.

But there is a reason advertisers actually want full page videos running and not just banner ads. To be fair, complaing about a company trying to make money is kind of garbage.
